About Thurston Creative
A creative studio shaped by heritage craft, editorial restraint and a modern eye for visual storytelling.
Questions, Answered
What does Thurston Creative actually do?
Brand identities, editorial design, and photography — for restaurants, publications, and brands that care how things look and read. That covers naming and identity systems, menus and print, packaging, and the visual storytelling that ties it all together.
Who will I be working with?
Rémy — directly, from first call to final files. There is no account team and no handoff. Specialist collaborators (printers, sign painters, developers) are brought in when a project calls for them, but the creative direction never leaves the studio.
What does a typical project cost?
Every engagement is scoped individually — an identity system, a menu program, and a day of photography are different animals. Projects range from $1,000 for a focused, single-deliverable engagement to $50,000 for a full identity system carried across every touchpoint. Share your budget honestly and you will get an honest answer about what it can and cannot do.
How long does an identity project take?
Anywhere from a week to a year, kickoff to delivery, depending entirely on scope — a single menu moves fast; a ground-up identity does not. Good work needs room to breathe; rushed identities tend to look like it.
Do you only work with restaurants?
Hospitality is home base, not a fence. The client list runs from neighborhood kitchens to Cheerwine, Lowe’s, and Duke Energy, alongside editorial work for national magazines. If the project values restraint, texture, and story, it will feel at home here.
We already have a logo. Can you work with it?
Often the best work is evolution, not reinvention. If your mark has equity and soul, the job is to tune everything around it — type, color, voice, materials — so the whole brand finally matches its best parts.
Where are you based? Do you travel?
Charlotte, North Carolina, with work across the Carolinas and the wider South — and photography happens wherever the story is. Travel is quoted plainly in the proposal, never smuggled in later.
How do we start?
Email the studio or use the inquiry form with a few lines about your project, timeline, and ambitions. If it feels like a fit, the next step is a conversation — then a clear proposal with scope, schedule, and cost.
★★★★★
“I often joke I wish I could see into Rémy’s brain. He is one of the most creative, clever people I have had the pleasure of working with. His vision transcends logos on paper — he is able to give brands not just a look, but a feel and personality. No question his ideas are original and quick-witted, but what sets Remy apart is his ability to bring characters to life that enchant guests from the first time they visit the website to the 20th time they visit the restaurant.”
